A TRIBUTE TO PASTOR MAMA CHRISTINE OWALABI
Founder of Kampala International University in Tanzania Chapel (KIUT Chapel)
On behalf of KIUT Chapel, we pay tribute to the life, faith, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of Pastor Mama Christine Owalabi, the founder of KIUT Chapel.
Many of us today did not have the privilege of knowing her personally, yet her name remains well known among us because of the seed she faithfully planted. What began as a small seed has grown into a great tree—providing shelter, bearing fruit, and touching the lives of generations.
Through KIUT Chapel, hundreds of students have encountered God, experienced transformation, gained spiritual understanding, and been encouraged to live lives of purpose. Many have gone on to become doctors, managers, ministers, professionals, and leaders, serving God and humanity both within Tanzania and beyond.
Indeed, she did not labour in vain.
We are especially grateful that she chose to labour for people she did not personally know and might never have had the opportunity to meet. She planted in faith, trusting God for the harvest. Today, we are part of that harvest.
KIUT Chapel remains alive and active, continuing to grow and minister to students and staff. The church she planted continues to disciple, care for, and raise people for God’s service. We believe that, in God’s appointed time, KIUT Chapel will also raise and send missionaries beyond Tanzania for the glory of God.
We are confident that her labour has been remembered before God and that her reward is secure.
The seed she planted has become a tree.
The tree continues to bear fruit.
And the fruit will bless generations to come.
From all of us at KIUT Chapel, we say:
Thank you, Pastor Mama Christine Owalabi, for saying “yes” to God.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may the fruit of her labour continue to glorify God.
